Grading:  There will be numerous unannounced quizzes. Up to 400 points will be awarded for each of 3 comprehensive tests, 500 for the comprehensive final, 160 for the semester quiz percentage and 140 for class participation. Grading scale:  1800-2000=A, 1600-1799=B, 1400-1599=C, 1200-1399=D.
General Rules:  Bring your text to every class. Calculators will not be allowed on tests (but will be required at other times during class). Cell phones, pagers, audio equipment, etc., must always be turned off and out of sight during class time. The classroom's pencil sharpener is not to be used during class time.  No food or drink (except clear liquid) is allowed in the classroom. In the classroom, I don't discuss grades, test scores or special requests, or sign anything. Special requests must be submitted in writing.
I reserve the right to drop from the class any disruptive student or any student in violation of school or class policies.    Attendance/Make-ups:  If I am notified in advance in writing and I receive the missed day's homework, I will excuse an absence.Arriving late, leaving before the class ends, leaving and returning, or not having your textbook out may be counted as an absence. Anyone with four or more absences, excused or not, may receive a Y or an F in the course. Withdrawals before March 2 will earn a W, after that date it will be a Y. A student who misses one of the tests (and has a documented and approved excuse) will have the final exam score substituted for that test score, but if two or more tests are missed, the student will get a zero for each. Failure to take the final exam at the officially scheduled time will result in a grade of  F or Y for the course.
